This is the sixth game that Keith Elwin and I have collaborated on. As always, Keith designed the playfield layout and rules, and I served as Lead Software Engineer responsible for bringing his vision to life, with three support programmers assisting throughout development.
The standout hardware feature on this game is a three-servo animatronic King Kong figure in the back right corner of the playfield. Kong moves independently and reacts dynamically to gameplay events, bringing a level of character interaction rarely seen in pinball. The multiball start sequence showcases this best: a ball lock in the form of a subway elevated train car captures up to three balls, and when multiball is triggered, Kong performs a coordinated animation sequence to knock the train off the tracks and release them.
The game currently has 31 modes including a topper mode, with more still in development. Work on this game is ongoing.
